Everyone needs a little Sonshine!

We blinked and school started again!  This year with one giant change- both boys are going!  Ben is finishing pre-k out at Sonshine Academy and Briggs is on the other side of the building in Sonshine School's MDO. Last Friday we had Meet the teacher for both. We lucked out and Ben has half of last year's class with him with the teacher we hoped for!  Including Colby who has been in all three classes with him!  His teacher is Mrs. Reck and her daughter was in Ben's class last year so he was excited to have "Ellie's mommy" as his teacher.
Briggs' teacher is Mrs. Brom. She's super sweet and Camille is in his class!  She's the one we do the joint bday parties with each year. Poor Mrs. Brom ;). He also has two other friends from MOPS. And ben's 2's teacher, Mrs. Wilkins is his bible teacher this year!
(Didn't get a pic of them together)

Ben was given homework at meet the teacher. He had to fill out an all about me poster. He's a very typical boy with homework. Especially hw that has art involved. But I let it be his. His answers cracked me up!
Did you know his fav food is carrots and ranch dip?  Ya, me either. His favorite place is Grammy's house. No surprise there and I'd have to agree. My favorite was what he wants to be when he grows up: a toilet paper maker!  No joke!  I couldn't have made that up if I tried!
His art skills did impress me- he's getting a little better with stick people!

They were both beyond excited to go to school Tuesday!  Briggs is so proud to have his own lunchbox and backpack. Ben marched right in and got right to work playing. And then I took Briggs. I wasn't sure how either of us would do. He was great until it was time to cross into the classroom and then the tears started for him and he glued himself to me. Mommy held it together though!  And then came home to a very quiet house!  Oh my!  But what amazing things I can do in 5 hours alone!!!  I was, however, excited to pick them up. Both boys had great days!!!

First day progression!!!

After school we continued our annual first day ice cream date with the Harmons. Such fun!
Look how big these sweet things are getting!!!
And one with the little siblings :)

So thankful for Sonshine school/academy!  We love it there!  Sadly, Briggs brought a tummy bug home with him the first day so he had to miss Thursday. But we had fun. I think he kind of enjoyed getting all the toys to himself :)

I literally fall apart thinking of what next year brings for Ben. I just can't go there right now in my head. At all!  So I will pray that my boys have amazing years this year. I pray they grow academically and spiritually. I am so excited for their teachers to have them in their classes and get a little glimpse of why we think they are so wonderful and perfect!

And just like that...

...summer has come to an end!  Boys, I have LOVED this summer. I feel like we have played non stop. I've loved our lazy days of sleeping in!  You two are sooooo much fun. I have no idea what I'm going to do without you twice a week. It'll be sooooo quiet (and a little cleaner)!
Here's a little picture recap of our summer at home. (Please excuse the crappy picture quality- trying to use the app on my iPad and it sucks).

Superheroes have to show their muscles!

And wear their capes!

Cars and planes GALORE!!!

Mommy's cousin moved to Dallas and is a news reporter. After watching her, yiu two decided to put on your own newscast. Hysterical!

Briggs loved the start of football with daddy!

And escaping each night from his room.  Friday night we just let him fall asleep out there.

This was sadly the normal view of the playroom- All.the.time :(

My buddies

Enjoying their first s'mores at Grady and Camille's house.

Hanging out in a box while mommy sets up the room for mops.

Countless hours watching the mowers.

We babysat the twins one day. You two were Amazing and loved having them here.

A rare rainy day = playtime outside

Cookie decorating

First time getting your faves painted

We made superhero crayons

Shark week at the gym!

Many visits to the splash park. The only way to beat this insane heat!

Silly boys on "zoomers"

The occasional shower kisses

Annual swim with Mayson!  Look at how big they've gotten!!

Oh sweet boys!  You are amazing. I love you to pieces. I can see how I might like the summers more than you two as you get older. It means my babies are home!!!

Cubbies

Wednesday evening Ben started Cubbies at the church where he goes to school and MOPS. He's there for an hour and a half (wow) receiving amazing lessons on the Bible. Cubbies is the 3 and 4 year old program of AWANA. I thought we had to be members of FBC Frisco to go, but we don't (our church doesn't offer anything like that to preschoolers)!  And- he was able to be put in the room with a FABULOUS lady we know from MOPS. Ms. Cindy deserves her own post one day. One more amazing grandma figure for the boys :)
We are really excited for Ben. He said he had a blast. The lesson on Wednesday was all about how God loves us.  See the heart in the pic with the two little ones. Ben told us that he's the big heart and the two little ones are mommy and daddy because he loves us just like God loves him. Oh that boy!  And he wonders why I hug and kiss him all the time!

Little Bit loved having mommy and daddy to himself that entire time. He was sad not to get to go, but I think being spoiled each week will make up for it!  And next year they can BOTH go. Woohoo!!!

Soccer ball game (as Briggs calls it)

Guess who had his first game of the soccer season yesterday???  And guess who scored a goal!?!  Okay the first one is Ben, the second is totally not!  But he did kick the ball a few times. He's playing on the same team with the same coach. It really was amazing to see the improvements the team as a whole has made since their first game last season. Maybe Ben will catch up soon :).
Besides playing on a different field for some reason, we get to enjoy the scorching heat that will not go away!  I was actually looking forward to 8:00 games this time, but we have none!
It's still painful for us to watch Ben be so passive out there. I swear if we put Briggs out there and moved it to our house Ben would be ALL over the ball trying to keep it from Briggs. And he has a little rash on his bum so he spent a good part of the game standing there scratching it. Sigh...
Hopefully Ben will start to feel comfortable out there and show us the crazy kid we know he is. Sadly though, I think he's going to be like both his parents when it comes to performing in front of lots of people. Briggs may be our shining star in that :)
Just chillin' before he was due back on the field :)
