Catch up

Wow!  I’m getting pretty bad at blogging!!!  April was jam packed with family and now the house is a little lonely, but we’ve had lots of fun lately.  I just LOVE getting to spend my days with these two stinkers.  I just can’t believe how blessed I am. 

Briggs got to visit the doc on Friday.  He said he’s got 4 molars coming in and just a cold, but then he called him in a prescription on Monday because Briggs was just sounding worse.  But even sick he’s still adorable and last night after bath time I noticed 2 other teeth have popped through!  So once these stinky molars arrive he’ll be up to 12!  Where did my little baby go?

Ben learned how to play Candy Land.  He was so funny playing.  He kept telling us what card he wanted to get and where he wanted to move on the board.  The best part-he won!  Fair and square (you know B won’t let his kid win unless he earns it)!

Daddy bought the boys a big  pool, but the water was COLD.  Briggs didn’t last too long in it (he slipped and the icy water did him in), but he loved splashing.  Daddy also bought water balloons to throw.

This little guy is up to 10 steps, but still prefers to crawl or be held.  The other day when we came inside he looked right at B and said, “hi dada!”  Yet there’s still no mama!!!

Briggs was so tired after church and breakfast last week he started to fall asleep on B while walking to the car.

We met some friends at the splash park last week.  It was Briggs’ first time (too little last summer) and he loved it.  He’d crawl around chasing the water and laugh the entire time.

And of course this little booger had a blast and threw a HUGE fit when we had to leave!

I took this today.  Someone didn’t nap at school today and then had too much fun at the park.

Ben tried so hard to stay awake to greet Tina and Brad, but the poor kid fell sound asleep about 5 minutes before they got here.

Ben is terrified of the blender-and I mean TERRIFIED.  Last week while B was blending something and Ben was eating, Ben got really scared.  Afterwards we told him what a brave boy he was and his reply was awesome.  He told us, “Jesus protected me when I was scared.”  My eyes welled with tears.  Happy tears!  This is also the same kid though who told B last night, “Daddy, I have a surprise for you!”  And then he farted and laughed.  So proud!

All ready for Texas day at school

While Ben was celebrating Texas day, Briggs was partying it up with some friends at Toddler prom-the cutest little playdate ever!

Seriously!  How can you not just laugh at these.  I find them hysterical!

Later that night Nichole and her hubby Wardell came for a visit.  Nichole is my 2nd cousin and it was the first time for us to meet Wardell.  Can’t wait for them to have their own babies!

Someone was playing and got all caught up in Ben’s soccer goal.  So yes, I let him suffer a little longer while I snapped a picture

Now that little bug who was all caught up in the goal can now walk!!!  He’s up to about 10 steps, but prefers crawling over walking.  He even claps now as he does it because that’s what everyone else does to him!

And Grammy…

Our amazing, wonderful, generous, loving, perfect Grammy came to visit this weekend.  We had SO MUCH FUN with her and were so sad when she left.  But, we can’t wait to see her this summer, yay!

Friday we went to “A Day out with Thomas” with Grammy and some of our friends.  With the exception of some of the rain it was a great day.  Ben even used his charm to get Grammy to buy out the gift shop for him.  Little toot!

This little stinker was so cute.  He kept telling me (while on the train) that he wanted to ride Thomas.  I think the only way the kids would have understood they were riding Thomas would be if they were actually riding on top of him!

Ben also convinced Grammy to buy out the toy aisles at Target including snagging this Cars scooter and helmet (which we discovered is a tad small for someone’s large noggin).  He doesn’t mind riding it in the house, but once we get outside he gets a little freaked.

Lots of celebrating!

We’ve been doing a lot of celebrating around here lately!

I snapped this picture of our little guy as he was headed to Toys R’ Us with Daddy to get a toy because HE POOPED IN THE POTTY!  He’s only done it that once, but we were all so excited for him!

Tuesday Briggs had his one year appt.  Our sweet baby is doing very well.  Dr. S wants me to wean him off breast milk and then once that’s done he wants him off the pacifier.  Pretty sure that last one won’t be happening for some time!  Briggs is still so much smaller than Ben was at the same age.  It’s weird to have a little peanut compared to our big chunk!

Wednesday Briggs got to celebrate his birthday with our playgroup.  My friend Cara, who was the art teacher at my school, had Camille about 10 days after Briggs.  It was Cara who got me into the playgroup.  We decided to throw the babies a joint birthday party and Cara went all out making it so cute!

They received so many wonderful presents from our great friends (all of which Ben thinks are his and will not share with Briggs).

That night Grams came!  The boys were in bed when she arrived, but were very excited to see her Thursday morning.  We had a wonderful visit and it was very sad when she had to leave today.  Ben LOVED having so much attention.  When she would go upstairs to take a nap or shower he’d get upset and want her back downstairs.  Briggs loved having someone else to snuggle with him and give kisses.

Ben put Grams in a timeout for saying “stupid” which he knows is a bad word.  He has to go to timeout if he says it and he put B in timeout the other night when he used it at dinner when telling me a story.  That kid doesn’t miss a thing!

Friday we introduced Briggs and Grams to Texas bluebonnets.  Only we went right at 12 so the lighting was awful for cute pictures.

Saturday we got to celebrate the birthdays of two friends, Austin and Addie (but I don’t have pictures).  Both parties were at the same time so we started at Austin’s and rode ponies and played in bounce houses and then scooted over to Addie’s for cupcakes and playtime.

Sunday we celebrated the Easter Bunny and even more important, Jesus!  We took Grams to church with us and then came home and played with what the Easter Bunny brought.  Sadly the rain wiped out any chance of an egg hunt, but we got a few pictures before it came.

Sunday night we celebrated Briggs’ birthday AGAIN!  We were supposed to have a party with lots of family and some friends, but when no one from Austin could make it up we decided to cancel it.  But B still made AMAZING cupcakes for us.  I think someone will be sad to be done with cupcakes!
